I Confess…

I found this on a blog done by Annalise Mishler (which, you should check out her blogs.  INSPIRING!) and thought that it would be something fun that I could do.

So, here goes nothing!

I Confess…
I have a love hate relationship with being a military wife.  I love everything that Shane stands for a most of the things that he does.  I love that he felt the calling to serve his country and acted upon it.  However, I hate the time apart, I hate the distance, I hate the unrealistic expectations, and I hate the lack of respect for family and faith that comes with it.

I Confess…
We have spoiled our dogs to the point where every time we sit on the couch, one or the other (and sometimes both) will jump up in our laps.

I Confess…
Being a step-mom is the most rewarding (and stressful) job that I’ve ever held.  I love those kids as my own, and the amount of pride I feel when they succeed in anything is beyond measure.  But the anger and frustration that I feel when they disrespect and pitch attitude is just as strong as the sense of pride.

I Confess…
I’ve gotten so wrapped up in life and all of the chaos that it is, I have forgotten what hobbies I have.  Instead of reaching for a book in my down time, I reach for a pillow and blanket.

I Confess…
I love my job.  I’ve never felt for respected, more valued, and more of an asset to a company than I do at my current job.  I’m given tasks to do and if I don’t know how to do it, they are quick to teach me.  It’s nice to be a part of a team where I am viewed as a team member.

I Confess…
I hate our cat (Well, M’s cat but we take care of it.)…most days.  She is Satan in fur form.  She rips things apart (including skin), she uses the floors, closets, cupboards, etc as her bathroom when we make her angry, she consistently knocks things off tables and counters, she claws at our feet, legs, arms and hands whenever we get near her and she doesn’t want us to.  But, then there is the super cuddly, lovey, adorable side that comes out about once every 9 days.  She is also a playmate for the dogs and they (or at least Hugo) would be heartbroken if we got rid of her.

I Confess…
Shane and I are what I consider “traditionalists”.  We were trying to do things the right way when we started dating – man takes woman out, man respects woman, we stay in our separate homes, etc etc etc.  That was our goal.  However, due to things discussed in Some Friend You Were, he opened his doors so I had a safe place to go.  Somehow, we still managed to respect our morals and values during that time.

I Confess…
I bake, cook, and clean when I get stressed, frustrated or sad.  Shane will probably return to a spotless house, pre-cooked meals for the next month, and enough baked goods to last us until next year.

I Confess…
Shane and I watched CatDog and Rugrats before work this morning. (THANK YOU, DVR!)  90’s cartoons are probably the best thing we’ve found lately.  Next on the list is Hey, Arnold, Angry Beavers, and Rocko’s Modern Life.

I Confess…
I use my blog for therapy.  There are some of the stupidest things that happen in my life and sometimes I just need to write to get it all out or to explain it in a way that my words can’t.  If you read back in some of my old blogs, you would think some of that is made up – it’s not.  Those situations that happen with the kids – they are real.  Some conversations I’ve overheard – those actually took place.

I Confess…
I am an open book.  I love when people ask me questions about myself or my life or my thoughts on something.  I cannot urge you enough to ask me something if you desire to know.  I will tell you.  I will be honest.

I Confess…
We have 14 Bibles in our house.  We have a “My First Bible” (1), the kids “Deep Blue Sea” bibles (2), military Bibles Shane got on tour (3), his grandma’s Bible (1), his first bible (1), my first bible (1), this kids’ new Apologetics Bibles (2), the New Testament pocket Bible (2) and my Lutheran Study Bible (1).  We also have a Life Application Bible coming hopefully within the next couple of weeks!  That will make 15.  And get this… we use them all.

I Confess…
This blog has put me in a “happy place.”  I am struggling with the fact that I will be on my own for the next 5 days.  I will come home from work to an empty house.  I will wake up alone.  I will go to bed alone.  But I’ll be ok.  I have to stay focused on the positives and keep busy with things that need to be done.

I challenge all of you to participate in the “I Confess…” blog.  It’s actually pretty fun!  Tag me in it so I can see it as well!

Suggestion Box.

Man, you guys! I have found some of the coolest blogs this last week!

Some suggestions to check out:

I found Kingspeech’s blog in Freshly Pressed one day and fell in love with it!  It’s a new take on different areas of the Bible and provides a lot of inspiration for anyone who may have lost their way.  I HIGHLY suggest checking it out!

Another one I found was NotoftheNorm.  My goodness you guys!  These people are amazing!  There are 7 different people who run this blog.  Their different stories on their faith journies just resonate with you! They don’t sugar coat it!  They talk about struggles as well as the good times!  As you’ve probably seen if you are a follower of me on here (I don’t re-post them to Facebook though)  I have shared a few of the posts that I really connected with.  Head on over and take a peek, I  HIGHLY recommend them!

I just found this site yesterday, but so far what I have read, it’s pretty good!  Chronicles of a kid next door.  Another faith based blog that relates real life to different passages.  I’ve only read the first couple of entries but they are very well written and provoke that “Been there done that” thought.

So.  Head on over and check these guys out and leave them words of encouragement or support!

Tomorrows blog is going to be AMAZING!

In the mean time, enjoy this picture of some ducks!

Wherever The Path May Lead.

I have finally decided on a direction – or directions – that I want this blog to move.  I am going to make it a DAILY goal to be on here and posting something.

I have gone as far as putting a category for each day: (yes I am using hashtags so that if you share it, you can tag it and share with your friends, families, followers.)

Monday:
#MotivationMonday
This will be my first post of the week.  I will be going through what verses, stories, experience, or prayers have gotten me through the previous week or which ones will get me through the upcoming week.

Tuesday:
#ThankfulTuesday
This will be the day where I will pick one (or two or three…) blessings that went on during the past week.  While each day is a day to be thankful, I will be picking the ones that mean the most to me and going through WHY they mean so much to be.

Wednesday:
#WhisperingWednesday
When you think of a prayer, you think a silent conversation with God, right?  Well, this is going to be a day where I will type out a prayer.  Whether it be for my personal life, someone I know that is struggling, or just a generic prayer.  If you know of someone who could use some prayers, feel free to message me on Facebook.  If you want it to be confidential, I will not post a prayer publically but I will keep them in my daily prayers.  I am investing in a journal where I can write down prayer requests and lift individual’s up throughout the weeks.

Thursday:
#TheatricThursday
I was really reaching for another T word to put with Thursday (so if you have any suggestions, feel free!) I will be posting song lyrics, music videos, pictures, or even a story that I find speaking to me throughout the week.

Friday:
#FanOrFollowFriday
This is the day where I will go through and see how many reblogs, likes, or new fans that I have from the week.  Whoever has the most likes, reblogs, or refered followers will have one of their posts featured on my blog.  That’s right!  I will reblog one of your posts.  If there is one in general you would like shared, let me know!  Otherwise, I will pick one that I enjoyed reading.  This includes those of you visiting from Facebook.

Saturday:
#SharingSaturday
During this day, I will be sharing a verse that I find/found very inspiring.  This may be a verse that helps you in the current moment or maybe will help someone you know.

Sunday:
#SONdaySunday
You may notice the word Son.  You can about guess what this means.  If not, I’m going to tell you!  “By the seventh day, God had completed His work which He had done.  Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.” ~ Genesis 2: 2-3
That’s right!  Sunday is my day of rest!  Now, this just means that there will not be a posting.  I will still respond to comments and I still will be reading other blogs on here.  I just won’t be spending hours creating my own post. (Yes, I said hours.  I can easily kill two hours creating a blog post to entertain you guys; but I wouldn’t want it any other way.)

Sidenote:  I LOVE feedback!  I am making it my personal goal to respond to EVERY comment made on my posts; on WordPress, on Facebook, etc.  Please give me a few hours to respond as I do still attend school (online but I still put in quite a few hours with research and writing papers), I work at a car dealership where I interact with customers, I also am a ma to two beautiful, active children.  If I’m not busy with one of those things (or sleeping!) I PROMISE to at least acknowledge that I have seen your post by “liking” it.

I will begin this journey on Monday and I cannot wait to see what these changes do for me and those around me!

November Blog Challenge – Days 18-21

I’ve decided that I suck at this daily blogging thing.  Maybe next month will be better.  :/

Day 18 – A Picture Of Yourself

This was taken a couple of days ago on my way home from work. It was time to let my hair down.

Day 19 – Your Favorite Movie
I have more than one.  So I’m going to go with my Top 10 (in no particular order):
Phantom of the Opera
The Notebook
God’s Not Dead
Wall-E (Or any Disney movie to be honest)
Mr. Hollands Opus
Role Models
Grease
Bridesmaids
Hunger Games
aaaaaaaand Step Brothers

Day 20 – What Makes You Happy
I’m a fairly simple person.  I’m happiest when I can spend time with my family, Shane’s family, our family, when I bake/cook, and when I can just step away from daily life for a little while and unwind.  I also enjoy being out on the farm on the 4-wheeler out in the middle of nowhere but now that we have a bunch of snow, mudding is out of the question…

Day 21 – What Makes You Sad
I struggled with how to answer this question in a way where I didn’t offend people.  But at this point in my life, I’m done walking on egg shells around people so if this offends you, oh well!
Backstabbers and two-faced people.  If you cannot be 110% honest with me and if you can’t show me your true colors, you are a waste of my time.  That is why I LOVE blogging and why I love every one of you who have followed me.  My posts are real.  I read your posts, and I feel your pain/happiness/sorrow/excitement/struggle/etc.  That is real.  None of you hide who you are.  However, there are some people who I interact with on a daily basis who could take a few lessons from this blogging community.
